Markham survives Huntsville comeback, wins 4-2
The Markham Waxers came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Huntsville Muskoka Otters, but did just enough to escape with a 4-2 victory.
Markham led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Waxers' Rickey Buehler's scored at 13:34 in the second period to put Markham up 4-1.
Andrew Radjenovic was all over the ice for the Waxers, as he finished with two goals in the win. Radjenovic found the back of the net 17:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Markham and again while 10:20 into the second to make the score 3-0 Markham.
Markham kept Huntsville's goalie busy throughout the game, and Michael Doan made 43 saves on 47 shots.
Jamie Kendra also scored for Markham. More assists for Markham came via Daniel Pachis, who had three and Tyler Shaw, Peter Soligo, Alex Leader, and Sammy Banga, who each chipped in one.
The Muskoka Otters' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on seven Markham power plays. Huntsville forced the Waxers goalie Chris Perugini to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.
The Muskoka Otters were helped by Ryan Tucci, who had one goal. Tucci scored 11:04 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Markham. Steven Mueller assisted on the tally. Huntsville got a goal from Cooper Rush as well. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Mich Eden, Richard Stethem, and Ted Anstett, who contributed one each.
Perugini turned away 33 pucks between the pipes for Markham. The Waxers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Huntsville incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
